About this work
This engraved print presents the text of the Declaration of Independence in a decorative oval frame of grapevines and leaves, topped by an eagle. A standing full-length figure in a dark coat, lace cravat and breeches holds a sword at the center, above the body of the text. The lettering at the top reads Declaration of Independence and In Congress, July 4th, 1776, and the piece credits Gilman R. Russell as its penman and William K. Fisk of Manchester, N.H. as publisher.
