About this work
This plate from Études & Idées de Décoration by Claudius Denis, dated 1920, presents two stylized female figures framed in decorative panels. The left figure wears a crown and garland of pink rhododendron blossoms and green leaves against a yellow and orange backdrop, while the right figure has a flowing ornamental headdress and pale curving forms on a rose and green ground. The composition reflects the Art Nouveau interest in botanical motifs and linear decoration.
