About this work

This painting shows an orchard in bloom, with arching fruit trees covered in pink and white blossoms set over a sunlit green meadow. Loose, textured brushstrokes model the foliage, and cool blue and violet shadows pool across the grass and a small reflective patch of water. Alice Bailly painted this work, titled Verger (Bailly), in 1938; it is held by the Musée d'Orsay.
