About this work
This pen and brown ink drawing shows an allegorical scene divided across two facing pages, with a house labeled Domus Hominis Prudentis on the left and a procession of figures on the right. A skeleton, a dragon, a raven pulling a cart marked Finis Vitae, and chariots bearing figures labeled Saturnus and Mars appear among the scattered inscriptions. The work is catalogued as Do Not Turn Back When You Arrive at the End, by an anonymous French artist, dated 1512/1514.
