About this work
A pen and brown ink drawing shows a bearded haloed man carrying a bundle of sticks beside a crucifix labeled INRI, while a seated youth rests beneath a tree with a lion nearby. Two Latin inscriptions label the scene, and the page is marked with a faint red ruled grid. The work is attributed to an anonymous French artist, early 16th century, dated c. 1512/1515.
