About this work
A pen and watercolor drawing shows a richly dressed courtier in a red cap standing between two allegorical figures labeled Covetousness and Dissimulation. Covetousness, at left, wears a crown and plays a pipe and drum, with money bags hanging from the costume, while Dissimulation is a veiled, hooded woman. Below, a wolf in a friar's habit and a skeletal friar with a rosary appear.
