About this work

This pen and brown ink drawing shows a crowned, richly dressed figure standing at right, extending his arm toward a group of men who reach up toward him with raised hands. The figures wear early sixteenth-century garments and headwear, and the sheet is rendered with fine hatching. The work is an anonymous French drawing dating to about 1512/1515, held by the National Gallery of Art.
