About this work

This pen and brown ink drawing shows a group of kneeling and standing figures in late medieval dress gazing upward toward long, serpent-like forms and rays descending from the upper right. The figures include a crowned man, a bearded man in a fur collar with an outstretched arm, and robed figures praying with clasped hands, with a small kneeling figure holding a scroll at center. The work is attributed to an anonymous French artist of the early 16th century and is dated c. 1512/1515.
