About this work

A charcoal and black chalk study on blue-grey paper shows a muscular male figure with a leafy wreath in his hair, one arm raised and a draped animal skin around his body. Loose hatching and smudged tones model the torso and limbs, while the background is only lightly indicated. The sheet is catalogued as Bacchus, an Anonymous Italian drawing from the 17th century dated 1600.
