About this work
A pen and ink drawing with brown wash and touches of color shows an enthroned crowned king flanked by allegorical figures labeled Susanna and Sensualitas. Latin inscriptions on scrolls and framed panels list emotions and passions, and a niche holds a veiled female bust. The work is attributed to an anonymous French artist, dated c. 1512/1515, and held by the National Gallery of Art.
