About this work

This fragmentary printed sheet, catalogued as a playing card, is divided into rectangular compartments filled with acorn and oak-leaf motifs. Two crowned lions or heraldic beasts stand among the foliage in the central panel, and a seated figure appears at lower left. The paper is torn along its edges and shows a warm, foxed tone, consistent with a German print of about 1500 by an anonymous artist.
