About this work

This frontispiece for England's Chronicle presents a grid of oval portrait medallions of English kings and queens, framed by a central title panel flanked by classical columns. The title reads England's Chronicle, or the Lives & Reigns of all the Kings & Queens, and a verse in the lower border praises the monarchs depicted. The work is a print attributed to an anonymous British artist, dated 1600.
