About this work

An engraved print shows a gull-like waterbird standing in profile on a rocky outcrop, with a dark grey back, pale scaled breast and neck, and a short dark bill. Fine hatching and cross-hatching model the feathers, wings and rock, and the bird is framed by a thin ruled border. The work is catalogued as Water Fowl, by an anonymous British artist of the 19th century.
