About this work
A red and black woodcut bookplate shows a heraldic shield with a rampant lion, topped by a crowned eagle with spread wings and surrounded by elaborate acanthus scrollwork. A Latin inscription and a small monogram appear beneath the shield within a decorative border. The work is attributed to an anonymous German artist of the 15th century and dated around 1500.
