About this work

A hand-colored woodcut shows an enthroned bearded figure with a halo above at left, holding a globe topped by a cross, while a nude crucified figure with a halo stands on a green and pink structure at right. A chalice and communion wafers appear in the lower and central areas above a crowd of figures in flames. The work is titled Allegory of the Eucharist, attributed to an anonymous German artist of the 15th century, dated 1480/1500.
