About this work
A hand-colored woodcut-style print shows a scene of the Flagellation, with a nearly nude figure bound to a blue column at center while figures in red and white garments strike or look on. The pink brick wall, arched stone architecture, and a round lattice window frame the composition. The work is attributed to an anonymous German artist and dated 1480/1500.
