About this work
A pen and ink sketch on aged paper shows a figure, possibly an atlantid, rendered in loose contour lines beside a Corinthian-style capital and studies of scrollwork and volutes. The drawing includes handwritten notes near the lower left and rapid hatching, with brown wash staining across the sheet. This anonymous Genoese work dates to 1600 and is held by the National Gallery of Art.
