About this work

This manuscript leaf from a Book of Hours shows a miniature of the Virgin Mary holding the infant Christ while a kneeling king offers a gift, with a standing attendant in red holding a vessel beside them. Blue and red painted initials and columns of black Gothic script with red headings fill the page. The leaf is attributed to an anonymous Flemish artist of the 15th century and dated c. 1430.
