About this work

A drawing in red and black chalk on tan paper shows two standing male figures, an older bearded man in front and a younger curly-haired youth behind him, both wrapped in flowing red drapery. The artist modeled the cloth and limbs with soft hatching and shading. The work is an anonymous Florentine drawing from 1600, held by the National Gallery of Art.
