About this work

This engraved print depicts two classical marble statues, one of a standing nude male figure and one of a rearing horse, set among ruined brick walls and overgrown plants. Inscriptions on the pedestals read Opus Fidiae and Opus Praxitelis, referring to the sculptors named on the bases. The work is attributed to an anonymous Italian artist of the 16th century, published by Antonio Salamanca, and dated before 1546.
