About this work
A lithographic print by James McNeill Whistler titled St. Giles-in-the-Fields, dated 1896, shows a multi-storied church with a tiered tower rising behind leaning bare trees. Loose, sketchy tonal lines describe the arched windows, the facade and the open ground in front. The sheet is torn at its edges and has a light tan tone.
