About this work

A color lithographic poster by Adolphe Crespin dated 1896 marks the 50th anniversary of the creche-ecole gardienne of St. Josse-Ten-Noode, Schaerbeek. A smiling woman in a pale green blouse supports a toddler standing on a green stool, with a cradle and a bowl at the right. The art nouveau design uses a halo-like arch with the words Charite and Avenir, floral garlands, and a dense patterned background, with event details printed below.

Poster shows a woman gently lifting and holding up an infant. The French words "Charite" and "Avenir" appear in halo-like arcs above the woman and child, respectively. The design incorporates some elements of the Art Nouveau style, including natural motifs like flowers and grass. The numbers "46-96" appear on the poster, commemorating the nursery school's 50 years of operation.
