A small white lapdog rests on a red-draped ledge beside her, and she holds a small book in one hand. This painting, Portrait of Anna de' Medici (1616-1676), Archduchess with her Lapdog, was made by Justus Sustermans in 1630 and is held by the Kunsthistorisches Museum.
