About this work

A three-quarter length portrait shows a woman in profile turned toward the left, wearing a voluminous white gown with layered lace trim and a sheer white veil draped over dark curled hair. A small gold cross brooch rests at her chest, and a blue-beaded bracelet is visible on her wrist against a soft teal background. This portrait by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, dated 1856, is held by the Hermitage Museum.
