About this work

A group of elegantly dressed figures gathers in a colonnaded terrace with arched openings onto a distant architectural view. A seated woman in a pale satin gown reads an open music score while a man in dark doublet and lace collar gestures toward her, a woman in red attire plays a flute, and a young girl sits beside them with a white dog nearby. This Spanish Concert painting by Charles André van Loo was made in 1754 and is held by the Hermitage Museum.
