About this work
Two young girls are shown in a dimly lit interior, one with long auburn hair and a light blue dress holding a doll, the other with long dark hair and a white blouse seated beside a small blue box. The loose, feathery brushwork and muted palette define the soft textures of fabric, furniture and wall. The painting is by Leonid Pasternak and dated 1905, held by the Hermitage Museum.
