About this work

The painting shows a winged, red-haired figure in flowing rose-pink drapery seated among flowering shrubs, gently holding a green serpent that coils around the legs and rests its head near the figure's face. A calm lake and rugged, rose-tinted mountains fill the background beneath a pink evening sky.
