About this work
A drawing in brown ink and wash with white highlights shows a group of musicians and readers gathered behind a draped balustrade beneath an arched loggia. An elderly bearded man plays a flute, two women read from books, and two men in wide-brimmed hats look on, while parrots perch above and a monkey and a small dog sit at the base. This sketch by Jacob Jordaens is dated 1635.
