About this work

A black and white satirical drawing shows a man in a pith helmet and safari clothing kneeling with a rifle among potted plants, surrounded by a lion, a snake, a crocodile, a parrot, and costumed figures, while a man operates a movie camera at the right. The caption beneath reads that the scene is in the privacy of a moving-picture establishment and the public will see it later on the screen. The print was made by L. M. Glackens in 1908 and was published in Puck, November 11th, 1908.
