About this work
Two cut sunflowers lie diagonally across a loosely brushed surface, one with its bloom facing the viewer and the other turned to the right with drooping petals. Thick, energetic strokes of yellow, orange and green build the blossoms and the surrounding ground. The work is attributed to Vincent van Gogh and dated 1887, and is held in the Wikimedia Commons collection.
