About this work

This pencil drawing on pale paper shows a composition of caricatured figures in historical-style costume, including a central armored figure, a richly dressed man with a large ruff, and a crouching man in the middle. Smaller figures on the left and right hold flags and gesture energetically, with a label-like inscription visible on a stone or tablet.
