About this work
A crowded street procession moves between low tiled-roof houses and two tall, lattice-patterned minarets, with a round tower on the right. Barefoot men in white garments hold up tall pennants and curved swords, while a dense crowd in dark caps follows behind them, with mountains rising in the distance. The engraved print is titled Shusha in Ashura, by Vasily Vereshchagin, dated 1865.
