About this work

This painting shows a small wedding procession walking up a sunlit dirt road between a leafy stone wall and a brick house. A bride in a long pale veil is accompanied by men in dark suits and top hats, a child in a white bonnet, and a woman in a white dress farther back, set against a hillside under a blue sky. Theodore Robinson painted The Wedding March in 1892, and the loose, broken brushwork is typical of his impressionist handling.
