About this work
A watercolor and drawing shows a tall wooden tower with a pointed roof and weathervane rising above a cobbled square, flanked by brick houses and a large brick church wall. Several men in period dress walk in the foreground while dogs roam the street and a woman in a white gown strolls nearby. The work is attributed to Hermanus Petrus Schouten and dated 1804.
