About this work
A grey wash and chalk drawing shows the southern side of a Gothic church with pointed arched windows, a tall spire, and steeply pitched roofs. Figures in period dress, a horse-drawn cart, and a dog animate the street in the foreground, while gabled houses recede toward the left. The work is attributed to Cornelis Springer and dated 1860.
