About this work

A townscape shows a canal lined with brick houses with stepped gables, a domed church with a tall spire rising at the centre, and a drawbridge crossing the water. A moored boat, a small cart and several pedestrians occupy the cobbled quay, and the water reflects the facades. This view of the Korte-Mare in Leiden, looking South, is attributed to Paulus Constantijn la Fargue and dated 1780.
