About this work

A smiling sailor in a blue collar and navy cap leans through a round brass porthole, raising a glass in one hand and holding a bottle labelled Elixir d'Anvers in the other. The large gilded title lettering runs across the top of the pale blue panel. This 1906 print by Gerard Portielje is a color lithographic advertisement for the liqueur.
