About this work
An etching by Giuseppe Maria Crespi, dated 1705, shows a woman in a broad-brimmed hat leading a pale horse by its bridle while a barefoot child in a loose tunic points toward the animal. The engraved caption beneath the scene is in Italian verse, and the plate is numbered 3 in the lower left corner.
