About this work

A caricature-style print shows a man in a dark frock coat and white trousers, holding a top hat with a red and blue rosette and a bundle of ribbons, leaning toward a younger man who peers from a stone doorway beneath a partly visible sign. Figures in a street scene appear in the background, and a bollard stands at the left. The work is attributed to Alexandre-Gabriel Decamps and carries the caption 'Une pauv' petite préfecture s'il vous plait. Dédié à M. Guizot.'
