About this work

This hand-coloured print shows a caricature of a grotesque male figure in a red bonnet, yellow tunic, and ruff, whose body is shaped to form a map of Scotland with coastal and place names written across it. A tartan plaid, thistles, and a stretch of landscape appear in the foreground, and the label 'England' is placed along the southeastern edge. The work is titled 'Geography Bewitched! or, a droll Caricature MAP of Scotland' and is attributed to Robert Dighton.
