About this work

A hand-colored engraved plate depicts two white tropic birds with long, slender tail feathers, black wing markings and yellow bills, one in flight over the water and one perched on a rock. The dark, cloud-filled sky and rippling sea form the backdrop, and the printed caption gives the species name Phaeton aethereus.
