About this work
This hand-colored engraved plate shows several Baltimore orioles, including a black and orange male and a yellowish female, perched among broad green tulip tree leaves and pale flowers. A hanging woven nest of plant fibers appears at the left, and the composition is labeled with the plate number and bird name. The work is attributed to John James Audubon.
