About this work
This etching shows a pastoral scene with a woman riding a decorated donkey beside a herdsman driving cattle, while sheep and goats wade or stand near a river. A flat-bottomed ferry carrying figures crosses the water toward a rocky cliff topped by a small tower. The print is credited to Nicolaes Pietersz Berchem as designer, with Joannes Visscher listed as etcher and Reinier & Josua Ottens as publishers.
