About this work
This engraved print shows a bearded satyr with goat legs standing at left, gesturing toward a seated peasant man eating from a bowl at a table. A woman, an older woman, a child, and a servant holding a jug complete the domestic scene, with a dog and a rooster in the foreground and background. Jacob Jordaens is the recorded artist, and the print carries inscriptions in Latin below the image.
