About this work

A mezzotint portrait shows a bearded man with a white ruff collar and dark period costume, holding a small carved sculpture in one hand. The lower margin carries an engraved inscription identifying the sitter as Francesco Di Quesnoy, called il Fiammingo, a sculptor, with his birth and death dates and place. The print is attributed to Anthony van Dyck as the painter.
