About this work
An engraved portrait shows a bearded man in clerical dress, seated in a studded wooden chair, wearing a biretta, a cape, and a pectoral cross, and holding a cane. The Latin inscription below identifies the sitter as Johannes Malderus, Bishop of Antwerp, after a painting by Anthony van Dyck, with the engraver credited as Wollar and the date 1645 noted in the plate.
