About this work
A sepia-toned plate reproduces a genre scene of a dim interior with a white wall, a raised platform, and several turbaned men seated in conversation or reading. An hourglass, a hanging lantern and a framed inscription appear among the objects on the walls and shelf. The printed caption identifies the work as Turkse School by A.J. Decamps from the Museum Fodor collection, published by the Vereeniging tot Bevordering van Beeldende Kunsten in 1901.
