About this work

The painting shows a riverside settlement at dusk beneath large, spreading trees, with a covered wagon pulled by oxen and figures in colorful robes gathered near a thatched hut and stall of goods. A walled town sits on a hill to the right while the water stretches calmly into the distance under a warm, cloud-filled sky.
