About this work
This etching shows a cluster of large, leafy trees dominating the right side of a broad, open landscape under a dramatic, cloud-filled sky. A path of muddy ground and shallow water leads toward distant mountains on the left, where small figures or animals can be seen near the lower left edge. The work is attributed to Alexandre Calame and dated 1840.
