About this work
An etching titled Abbrutimento (Ricordo di Constantinopoli) by Alberto Pasini, dated 1870, shows a bearded man in a loose robe and sash leaning against a stone wall beside a column. He extends one arm to let a string of beads dangle, while his other leg is bent against the wall. The fine hatched lines build the shadows and textures of the masonry and clothing.
